Thank you so much Sheri and Agnes.
Now i can rest easy 😀 …and thus my shopping ban commences. Kinda. I’ll try not buy any hair products in the next 3 months. Well, i’ll buy a relaxer kit in a few weeks time and maybe some coconut oil if i happen to run out of what i have right now but that will be all i’ll be buying.
I feel a self imposed shopping ban coming on 😀
These should keep me going for a while
1) Nupur henna 2) Oliive olive oil shampoo with conditioner 3) Creme of Nature Moisture & Shine shampoo – sulfate free 4) Venus leave-in treatment 5) Suave Naturals conditioner 6) ORS oil moisturizing hair lotion 7) Perfect cosmetics hot oil hair cream 8) Kapa pure glycerine 9) Ideal extra virgin olive oil 10) Ideal pure castor oil 11) Bobby pins 12) Duckbill TONY&GUY hair clips
I wanted to also buy a bottle of Enliven shampoo and another of the Enliven conditioner but just I can’t seem to find them anywhere! Anyone know where I can find them in Nairobi? Agnes, when you find them, please let me know 🙂
I need to repurchase these
Now lets talk about this for a minute…
I was going to add some coconut oil to my shopping basket then I saw the price tag. I just stood there thinking the pricing was wrong but nope. That’s what its going for nowadays. The 500ml bottle is Ksh.237 up from Ksh.200 and the 1L one is Ksh.444 up from Ksh.325 (119 shillings more!) crazy I tell you. When did this even happen? I just bought my last bottle in December! Needless to say I didn’t repurchase it this time round. I hope the price goes down before I ran out.
I’ve on the look out for duckbill clips but when i saw these ones, i wasn’t going to buy them. Then i noticed that “they’re” TONY&GUY clips and i just had to have them 😀 Am well aware that they are knock offs but hey…
And you can never have too many bobby pins 🙂
Am 10 weeks post relaxer today!
Yesterday afternoon i randomly decided to clarify and condition my hair. It had been 10 days since i’d last washed it and I had been wearing it down every single day and not moisturizing and sealing as needed. The result…dry hair. I needed to add some moisture to it. I didn’t do a deep conditioning treatment…i’ll do that over the weekend.
The products i used
Another reason i decided to wash my hair; i thought i’d be home for the rest of this week, then i got a call after washing it that i needed to attend a meeting today. I didn’t want to show up with my trusty bun. So what did i do? I straightened it yet again :s I seriously need a hooded dryer.
This time i just blew it out on high for a few minutes then curled the ends under using a flat iron.
end of day hair
Am glad i washed my hair though because it felt so soft and ‘juicy’ afterwards…really moisturized. I did however notice that i need to do a henna treatment. My last one was slightly over 5 weeks ago so i might go ahead and do another one this weekend.
Hi guys! I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind words and the support you have accorded me. Thank you for the likes, comments, questions, suggestions, requests and just taking the time out of your day to read my blog.
I’d also like to Thank Joanne and Evelyn over at Gahl who were kind enough to feature me in their blogs’ inspiration corner. You can find the post here. They are two Kenyan sisters also on healthy hair journeys with a wealth of information to share with you so check them out and you’ll be sure to learn a thing or two.
2 years 1 week to be exact
This post should have gone up last week but it totally slipped my mind. Anyway, I got my first relaxer ever on the 16th of February 2012. Here is my progress so far.
16th Feb 2012 to Feb 2014 relaxed hair journey progress
I took other length check pics and…well, here they are…
The length is the same as that in my previous post so…yea, this is my true hair length. My next length check will be in 4, 5 or 6 months’ time. Am not really looking forward to it after my little mishap aka trim. Back in 2009 I accidentally chopped off my shoulder-length hair to neck-length 😐 Why don’t I ever learn?
On the bright side of things, I like to think that I’ve gotten rid of a good portion of the thin ends I showed in this post…here’s the pic again
Thin ends from my 1st relaxer. Hair had been relaxed bone BONE straight.
I haven’t done a proper length-check in ages so here’s my latest one…
Can i just mention how much trouble i went through trying to get a good shot? Seriously, am getting rusty at this.
Here is a 9 month progress picture
May 2013 – Feb 2014
I could have sworn i was at BSL prior to the trim. Now am beginning to think that maybe i trimmed off more than i thought i did 😮 . Or maybe my posture was off while taking the pic (denial?) I’ll take another pic soon and see if thats the case.
Calling up my hairdresser for my next trim might not be such a bad idea. Am just saying.
